The Dark Hour - In The Foyer
And as soon as Maia departs up the stairs, the light is soon out in the area. Fortunately, Gene can still see. Does anyone have a match or a lighter? That would be of tremendous help. But fortunately for our muckraking reporter he can see the foyer completely. There are unusual glyphs on the walls and even a few..paintings?
"You two should really just have a roll, it'd relax you both I think… oh, hello there, what's this, then?" The fedora-wearing Erisian takes a step along over to the glyphs and runes graven upon the walls, tucking the gun away in its under-arm holster once more and drawing out both notepad and pen. He works his way along the wall, transcribing the glyphs he sees for investigation later as they make their way forward.
The glyphs are transcribed actually quite nicely. Then there's the sound of an impish voice andit's behind the one who can see in the dark. If he looks around he'll see a young blonde girl, beaming brightly towards him as she wrinkles her nose and peers up at him curiously. "You know..there's a switch to turn on the lights."
At the suggestion, Gene whirls 'round to look at her… and then he blinks, glancing around, "Oh, the lights are out. I suppose that explains the monochromatics…" The words under his breath are dismissed with a clearing of his throat, and he fixes the girl with a curious look, "And… you are?"
She looks no older than ten years old. She's blonde and a petite little thing about four feet in height as she lets out an impish giggle, wrinkling her nose as she twirls around in what looks like a plaid skirt jumper and a white blouse. "Wouldnt you like to know!?!" she chirps merrily before pointing towards the door.
"The light switch is there, silly."
"Oh, well, that's handy," replies Gene as he strolls along towards the doorway to investigate reports of a light switch, pausing to glance back to her with a brow's lift, "Does it turn anything else on, by the way? Horrible deathtraps… self-destruct mechanisms… you know, that sort of thing?" Clearly the mysterious blonde girl in the ominous black spire of doom can be trusted!
The blonde girl shakes her head as she lets out an impish giggle. "You are much too suspicious. You and your friend over there.." she says pointing towards David. "It's no wonder daddy says you're all going to lose.." she whispers softly.
"It never hurts to ask," Gene allows with aplomb, reaching out to casually slide his hand down the switch. Then he pauses, realizes it goes up and flicks it up the other way. Fortunately, nobody saw that. "So, do you have a name? I'm Gene. Gene Horkos. Associated Press. I don't suppose your father's available for an interview?"
"I don't have a name.." she admits ruefully, pursing her lips as she twirls happily once more before letting out a soft giggle under her breath. "Daddy never named me. I can tell you about him though!"
"Then I'll name you Mary," replies the son of Eris without missing a beat, flashing over his most roguishly charming grin to the girl, "Do tell? I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting him yet, why don't you tell me about him?"
Mary twirls once more as she lets out a happy giggle and nods as she starts leading him towards a couch that's over by the side. "I can do that!" she chirps as she rushes over and flops down onto the couch, getting a tad bit more comfortable. "Voiceless town, tapping feet, he clenches his fist in pockets tight. Far in mist a tower awaits like a merciless tomb, devouring moonlight. Cold touch of his trembling gun

Far in mist a tower awaits like a merciless tomb, devouring moonlight." She squirms a little and suddenly a book pops out in front of her and she continues to read it..
"Clockwork maze, end unknown, in frozen time a staircase stands; shadows crawl on bloodstained flood. He rushes straight ahead with a sword in his hands."
Gene steps along beside the bubbly blonde girl, sprawling back in the cushions and settling in beside the girl to listen to her words. As the book appears out of nowhere, he leans over a bit to take a look at the text, rustling the next page of his pad over as he starts to write down her recitations. "Hm."
The text of the book is swirling mess, it's amazing the girl can read it at all. she looks up towards the reporter and beams brightly. "That's all I can say for now. I promise to tell you more if you promise to visit me? I like company. We don't get it often.." she says with a soft sigh under her breath.
"I might be able to do that," replies the Erisian with a reassuring smile back to the girl, "Provided that nothing tries to eat me if I try and come visit, Mary." A wink, "You probably shouldn't tell your father I named you, either, he might get upset. It'll be our secret."
"I like secrets!" she beams brightly, letting out a happy little giggle as she claps and applauds. "Your new friends though..watch them.." she whispers softly. "All. Things. Fall. Apart."
"Of course they do," Gene replies with a smile, crook'd up at one corner, "Higher and higher in the widening gyre, the falcon cannot hear the falconer… things fall apart, the center cannot hold. Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world." A wink's offered to the girl, before he adds, "My mother taught me a few things about how they fall apart, Mary. And how they hold together, for that matter."
David has disconnected.
"Ahhhh…yes, Eris.." she says with a sage nod, wrinkling her nose once more as she runs her fingers through her hair. "You have the same hair!" she chirps merrily as she hops off the couch and giggles once more. "The Dark Hour nears its end, but for tonight. It will continue to be so until you can solve it's mystery."
"The Dark Hour…" A push to his feet, and Gene glances back the way they came— then he slants a shrewd look to the girl, noting, "The doors are only open for an hour every night, I take it?"
"And Bingo was his name-o!" she cries out clapping as she beams brightly towards him. "But remember, time is subjective!" she says with a bright smile.
"Yeah, remind me to write a letter of complaint to Chronos about that," replies the Scion of Eris, flashing the girl a grin, "Good meeting you, Mary. I'll… I should…" He turns around once, "…I appear to be completely alone. Shit. I should go find that bunch and make sure they haven't bickered themselves into Typhon's maw."
"Byeeeeeee!" she chirps as she points the way towards the way the trio went. David and Jolie are no where to be found, perhaps they just left. Who knows. And she starts to sing a song in the end, "We're all trapped in a maze of relationships. Life goes on with or with out you. I swim in the sea of the unconscious. I search for your heart pursuing my true self…"
