Scene Title Six Feet Under Pt 3
Synopsis Jolie and Rain go to Haiti. It's the Dark Spire!

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

For better or worse, Rain has warded their temporary home against the Couchemal. Although she is quiet about it, figuring this is not her show. Still, it's a quiet show of gratitude. The morning finds Rain unhappy about getting up. Clearly, not a morning person. And she has a comical way of sprawling in her sleep.

Jolie is, ironically enough, a morning person. She's perky and up at the break of dawn, doing a little walking around the village. She's had her breakfast and come back to the house. "Heya, Rain! Did you know that you drool?" Of course, Jolie snores.

Zz- Huh? Rain blinks a few times. Her hair is comically mussed. Are those horns? Is she Medusa? A few blinks at Jolie. Is that - no not mom. "Eeeh? Oh… OH!" Ew! She frantically wipes at her face and sits up straight. "Eek! That's - awww." Sadface. "Good morning…" She stretches, popping her back and winces. "Aaah. I think that's old age. Maybe I need to hit him with a bat." Sigh. She's joking.

Jolie smiles. "I've got a bat you can borrow. But we've got other stuff to do. Get some breakfast in you. We should probably check out the dark spire today."

"Yeah," Rain smiles. "I'll eat fast then. People here are so nice…" She curls her fingers and stretches more. More popping. AGH. Age is coming. Or Rain sleeps really funny. Probably the second, given her contortionism. "Oh… Yeah. That too."

Jolie laughs. "Yeah, that too. I'm betting that thing's the reason alla this is happenin. Uncle Gunnysack's all messed up. The kids he grabs are getting out and becoming couchemals. And nobody can have babies."

"You think so?" Rain tilts her head and hms. "It could weaken him, or strengthen them… either way, I imagine it is the root of the problem." She stands and will go get dressed and have her breakfast. Fortunately Rain is a fast eater and - well, all of that.

Jolie waits for Rain to get ready. In the meantime, she grabs her bat. This calls for her big weapon! And when they are ready, she lets the couple know that they are leaving.

As the pair starts to leave, the wife heads out with them and hrmms for a few moments. She chews on her bottom lip a little, having overheard the conversation as she sighs softly. "Be careful if you're heading towards the Dark Spire…something is lurking there..something dangerous.." Wait..she can see it too?

Rain is pretty fast. She brings her pen and everything. A few blinks at the wife's comment. "Really? You -" Know? See? She looks surprised. "Thank you." She finally finishes.

Jolie tilts her head. "You can see it, hon? You've been blessed. Thank you for the warning." She gives the woman a hug, then says, "Let's go, Rain." And off she walks, towards the Spire.

"I do not think, I am blessed. I have wandered inside the Dark Spires by accident..you will face yourself there. I have seen her.." she warns, chewing her bottom lip a bit before she starts to head back to cook a delicious dniner for the two..

Rain smiles at the woman. Thank you! "Be well," She waves and follows Jolie after a grateful glance. She scampers along, obviously the less dignified of the trio. She pauses though. "Wandered inside…" as they go off.

Jolie mutters to Rain, "Yeah, she might not be the only one. Uncle Gunnysacks might have. Those little kids might have. Anyways, we just hafta be careful. And watch out for my double." And on they walk.

A mile and ahalf away, the Dark Spires stand prominently. Unlike the ones at New York, there isnt an eternal darkness, though the two of you know you have slipped into something else otherworldly. The Dark Spires stand up in the middle of a swamp, and the pair stands at the edge. Bubbles pop from the waters..who knows what lies in them..

"That's not good. He seems important, if unpleasant in a way," Rain considers. "I hope - if it's strong enough to be seen by a few…" Hmmm. Curious. She just follows along and looks up at it. Hopefully there is a bridge…

Jolie whistles as they come to the edge of the swamp. "I gotta say this. The spire looks /cooler/ here than in Times Square." She also looks around for a bridge or boat or other means of transport.

Alas, no bridge, boat or other means of transport. Just swamp…

"It does," Rain agrees, looking up. "But still kind of scary in its way. I don't see a boat or bridge though, do you?" She asks, pacing a little to peer around.

Jolie frowns thoughtfully. And then one can almost see the lightbulb appear over her head. "Oh man, I got a crazy idea. It just might work." And without even asking poor Rain, she picks the woman up, caveman style. "Sorry, Rain, but we gotta move, and we gotta move fast." She backs up some, and then begins to run towards the swamp water. Fast. Faster. Fastest. Her legs are a blur, as leaves and dirt fly up behind her. And then she and her poor burden hit the swamp water. Sink or run?

"An idea re—" Before Rain can finish her question, she's lifted. Eyes wide. Almost flail! But instead she clings for dear life carefully. "Okay!"

And there's Jolie and Rain zipping through the water as Jolie pretends to be a super fast Jesus..lizard. Eventually the pair arrives in front of the Dark Spires that are still covered in the same writing on the one in New York, though there's a bit more as well..

Jolie is grinning from ear to ear as they skim over the water. Finally, they land on solid ground. She sets Rain down carefully, beaming. "That was so cool. I hafta do that again one of these days, justa be doin it." Then she sighs and looks at the writing on the spire. "You gotta notepad?"

A little flail once she's down. Rain is NOT used to moving that fast. She's more of a plant person, slowly turning towards the sun. She smiles up at Jolie. "It was awesome. All I have is my little stenography pad for orders." She slips it from a pants pocket. It's tiny, though.

Awww, chibi pad! Well there's a lot to write. Jolie and Rain would know a certain Blue Ranger who can fully translate Atlantean without cheating (i.e. knacks), and so this might prove to be useful. For now things are quiet..this spire doesnt have the same groans and moans as the one in Times square..odd.

Jolie starts to take the pad, then changes her mind. "Can you write alla that stuff down? I'm bettin your handwritin's better than mine." Then she walks around the front. "It's too quiet."

"I don't trust my writing for the best accuracy," Rain points out and rubs the tip of a pencil over the paper once it's over runes. Turn page, rubrub, move. Turn page, rubrub. It's repeated a few times. She tucks the pad safely back in. "It is. It's not moany…" Ponder.

It is quiet for a bit, but then there's a familiar voice and a familiar figure walking out from the edge of the spire. It's Demosia-cum-Jolie dressed in a black Nemean hide outfit as she grins while looking towards the two. "Oh come now..my handwriting is amazing..yours should be just as good.." she quips, letting out a soft chuckle under her breath.

Jolie smirks. "I guess it ain't lesson time, huh? Now, why don't you tell me what happened to Uncle Gunnysacks, so we can get things fixed round here? The village is dyin." She gets a stronger grip on her bat.

Eek! Rain jerks. But at least she's finished the task. She takes a deep breath and looks over. "Oh…" Wait, there's two? She frowns. They weren't kidding about the copies.

"You've learned the lesson, and it gave me form. I have you to thank for that.." Demosia replies, letting out a soft chuckle of amusement under her breath. "And I'm fully aware that the village is dying.." she quips.

Jolie rolls her eyes. "Yeah yeah, and now you want to be a real girl. Whatevah. Right now, the village is more important. Did Uncle Gunnysacks come in here? Is the one out there now a copy?"

Blinkblink. Hmmm. Learning lesson, giving form. Rain is thinking this over. She is quiet for a moment, watching the two.

"Uncle Gunysacks? Oh you mean the old man with the potato sack.." Demosia replies with a hrmm under her breath as she idly runs her fingers through her hair. "That depends..he didnt come in here, but he did come out of here.."

Jolie narrows her gaze. She glances over at Rain to see if she has any ideas, then asks her clone, "Did he say anything when he left? Was he all in one piece or did he…I'm just tryin to figure out if he was a clone like you."

A pause. "Hm. I wonder…" She taps her chin. Rain looks thoughtful. "He is a negative balancing force, but I imagine he existed long before this tower. Perhaps she didn't see him go in, I'm not sure." Rain shakes her head.

"A clone? Me? Ha! I'm much more than that now, my dear.." Demosia replies, snickering softly as she grins in a rather predatory fashion before making a dismissive wave at the thought of Uncle Gunnysack. "And your astute friend is correct..he has always been here.."

"But this tower hasn't," Jolie replies. "Those stillborn babies were the sacrifice to bring it here, weren't they? Just like those women at Times Square." She smirks at Demosia. "And you are just. A. Clone. You look like me, you sound like me. Clone."

"Maybe she's more like a doppleganger or mirror image," Rain offers. She frowns at the idea of babies being sacrificed. "Either way, I imagine this place has a bad influence on Uncle. He may be a negative force of balance, but even he has or had his limits and strengths. I'm not sure."

"No my dear…I may sound like you and look like you, but trust me, that's where our similarities end.." Demosia replies, snickering once more as she looks towards both women and hrmms for a few moments before she shapeshifts into Rain. "Perhaps this is a better form..who knows? As far as the Gunnysacks is concerned, I'd be more worried about what's happening to the women who have their children disappear."

Jolie blinks. "Okay that is off the chain," she says as the previous Jolie clone becomes a Rain clone. "It sounds like we need to find Uncle Gunnysacks, then. Which way did he go?"

"Maybe we should check on those women too…" Rain seems worried. A few blinks at Demosia and a soft laugh. Then a horrified stare. "Wow, I look funny." She ponders this.

And soon Demosia goes back to Jolie's form and lets out a hearty laugh, most definitely amused as she looks towards Rain for afew moments. "You need better self confidence, child…you won't become a goddess at this rate.." she snickers alittle before looking towards the pair once more. "You can always step out and find out, children…time passes differently here…it's been a few days in the real world I believe?"

"Ah crap! That's what we get!" Jolie nods to Demosia. "Okay, thanks for the talk, but we gotta get goin, bye!" She turns and walks out, motioning for Rain to follow. Obviously they'll use the same method to get across the water to solid ground.

A shrug and a smile. "We'll see what happens." She winces at the mention of time passing fast. Rain doesn't object to being carried again. "Farewell!" She waves to the woman and all that jazz.
