Simone Devoir
Portrayed By: Zooey Deschanel
Status: Alive
Age: 28
Calling: Doctor
Pantheon: Dodekatheon
Divine Parent: Artemis

Simone Devoir was born in a rich little community in upstate New York. She took her mother's last name, her father having been present only long enough for biological necessity. Still, Simone's mother was well-to-do all on her own… family money, it was said… and she lacked for nothing. An exclusive private school education, not to mention all the proper dance and social introductions a girl could want. At her graduation party, Simone met one of her mother's close friends for the first time: Diana King. Not only was Diana rather friendly with her mother, but the woman lavished attention upon Simone as well. She was a New York heiress according to the tabloids, but that's all Simone could find out about her afterward. Her gifts to Simone were a matching necklace and bracelet, both of silver and with a curious moon emblem upon each. Diana returned for a social visit a week later, and after tea she took Simone for a long walk in the garden. It was a conversation that changed her life forever.

The summer before her freshman year at Harvard was interesting for Simone. Learning shortly after graduation that she is the scion of Artemis, the Goddess of the Moon was an awakening for her. She surged with a new independence, as well as a growing curiosity for things she'd never seen or even thought of before. Simone began leading a double life that summer, making acquaintences in parts of town that her mother never drove through on purpose. Her late night comings and goings were made easier by Diana, actually. Her divine mother became somewhat inseparable from her mortal one, and the two were frequently out of the house on various social engagements. By the time she was ready to start at Harvard, Simone had learned enough on the streets that continuing her double life at college wasn't a problem. Her new-found abilities made college easy as well, giving her more time to taste life along the way. She worked her way into a local biker gang (or Social Club, as she told her mother when pressed) and wasn't shy about breaking the law when it suited her. Her undergrad years went by quickly, and for all her extracurricular activities, Simone graduated with honors.

When it was time to apply for Harvard med school, however, things had cooled somewhat between Simone's mother and Diana. Whether this was her patron's design or negligence, Simone's mother informed her daughter that she would have to find a way to pay for med school on her own. Undaunted, Simone managed. Using some of her biker connections, she found a local strip club that was hiring dancers. Working for tips brought in quite a lot of cash, with her abilities making her education almost casually easy. She soon became one of the more popular dancers and made a lot of friends at the club, as many of them women as men. By the time she was ready to take her exams, Simone had built up quite a little nest egg on her own in addition to paying for school. She stopped dancing when she started her residency, choosing to focus more on the single business of being a doctor. Working at a local trauma center near the university gave her wonderful exposure to a gamut of conditions. Now that her residency is concluded, hoewever, Simone finds herself at a crossroads. On a whim, she packed up and moved back to New York. Feeling a great sense of purpose, now, she's settled in a Midtown apartment to see what this next phase in her life will bring.

Simone has something of a sarcastic side. She's usually quiet, but when she speaks she's direct and to the point. Not one for mincing words or playing twenty questions.

She's met and knows that the following people are also Scions:

Marius - Stunning good looks, without the ego to match. Brought her a pair of dead medusae as a present. She likes him, potentially romantically.

Vette - A redhead who knows few barriers between thought and word. They fought harpies together, and Simone likes her in a big sister sort of way.

Scrivner - English gentleman. Swordsman. Also joined in the fight with the harpies. Simone embarassed him when they met for tea afterward.

Alexander - Can 'smell' the blood of divine progeny. Shared a brief conversation on the subject.

Connor Burke - Also 'smelled' out by Alexander while Simone was present. She likes him and has entrusted him with her identity.

Lin - A police detective who shared his parentage as well as his problems.

Dee - A self-admitted thief, they get along just fine.
