Background

Ryan was always huge. He was a big baby, a big kid and even a big teenager. So much so that his mom had problems giving birth to him. Not only was he big, but he was health, all around. He even had a healthy appetite. He was born to a lower-middle class woman who remarried a farmer down in Ada Oklahoma. They were pretty poor as people go, but hey had very good family values. Even without the presence of Ryan's real father. He might have come from a bit of a small area, but Ryan was a legend in his own right. Everyone had high expectations for him. He was big, strong and good at sports. He took care of his mamma, had manners and would do things to better his community. Ryan was a Golden Boy among his hometown. They expected him to go on and do good things, to get a sports scholarship and go on to college, and all of that future stuff.

But Ryan felt his place was in other thing. For one thing, he had many hidden talents. Almost anything that he attempted, he could do. And it became known later that he had quite the musical gift. But when you live where Ryan lived, discovery just doesn't happen very often. Until he was visited by an attendant to the God that was his real father. Ryan discovered that he was one of the sons of the Norse god Thor, and he would be called upon to do greater things in life to reach his full potential. He was given the tools to start carving his path in Fate, and with a hearty hug, he departed his loving mother to go and achieve his destiny.

Personality

Ryan is the cowboy next door that every girl wants to date, every mother is charmed by. He’s an eternal optimist with a lazy grin and an easy charisma to him that can leave most people feeling incredibly at ease with him — and the rest rather despising him. He makes no bones about where he's from, and has no deep desire to either run from his roots or hide them. If he didn't have the whole Scion going on, his ideal life would be back in Oklahoma with a big plot of land, a a football scholarship to some college. Being a redneck's no shame to him, and he's never felt like people off in cities like NY have it better than he did in Oklahoma. He’s very gifted when it comes to working with his hands, active pursuits like sports, and grasping any sort of logical concept or strategy. Abstracts present a bit more difficulty, but he'll grin and bear it, or be happy to pass on the burden to someone he knows would do it better, rather than trying to prove a point by forcing it to work.

Despite how he can tend to be viewed intelligence-wise, Ryan is the first person to have your back in a fight, and the last person to leave your side when you're hurt. Loyal to the proverbial fault, he would not only never turn his back on a friend, but would likely be the one trying to save the bad guy from certain death at the last minute. He’s a hero, in short — the type that Giles tries to explain Buffy as being. Not that he ever watched that show or knows that he is one, but it's not hard to realize once you've been around him enough. His sense of humor is good and almost always on; he doesn't tend to crack jokes nonstop or deal out pranks, but he can always appreciate them when they happen, even to himself. He’s something of a liberal hick, concerned more with the quality of a person and the way that they treat others than he is with things like their religion, race, or sexual preference.

When it comes to his relationships with others, Ryan's a rock. if you're his friend, then you're his friend for life. Likewise, if you hurt someone that he cares about, then it's unlikely you'll ever have him not at least giving you some sidelong looks. He takes it extremely hard when he feels like he's failed someone, and will often beat himself up over it far more than the other people involved would He can seem kinda flirty, even when not realizing it. It’s more an inevitable side effect of his friendly attitude and 'aw shucks' smiles than anything else. He would never take another's SO, or anything, but it can be hard to tie him down at times all the same. His family is everything, and he'll defend all of them to the death, and heaven help you if you try to attack them for something; there's almost no faster way to get on his bad side. He's also extremely proud of them.

Ryan has a deep and driving desire to help others, and to fix the world around him — now that he's also gotten powers, he sees that as something that's actually attainable, rather than just being a pipe dream.

When a character performs a feat of strength, doing so takes every bit of effort the character can muster. He doesn’t just lift a blue whale by the tail and hammer throw it back into the ocean between bites of scone. He grunts and strains and struggles until he gets enough momentum behind the whale for it to leave the ground, and when he lets it go, it’s with are sounding shout of strain and a near collapse of relief as it sails out over the water. The name of this Knack, however, speaks for itself. Any action the character can perform as a feat of strength, he can perform as if it’s no effort at all. He can lift the heaviest weights with one hand while using his other hand to cover a yawn. He can throw a spear into orbit with a flick of his finger. He can scoop the beached whale up in one hand and send it skipping like a stone out into the deep water where it can move freely (if dizzily) once again. Since such feats of strength are so easy, the character can execute multiple actions while performing feats of strength.
