20 years ago a young woman known as Leslie Wolfe was travelling across Europe trying to escape her overbearing parents and finally fulfil her dream of seeing the world. During her travels she found herself in Norway where she met a hansom looking red head. They shared a few stories about their travels and wanting to get away from family. One thing lead to another and they were sharing a bed one night. They parted ways after that when she needed to catch her plane. Unfortunately for Leslie, her trip had to be cut short when she discovered she was pregnant.
Her parents while fairly rich had grown fed up with Leslie's behaviour and having a child out of wedlock from some boy in another country was more or less the last straw for them. They cut her off from her trust fund and refused to provide more money for her beyond bare necessities for taking care of her child.
Lauren's early life as far as she could remember it was a blur, much of what she could remember revolving around moving across California and her mothers boyfriends she would bring home. She never liked any of them and would play tricks and pranks on them to drive them off, which were met with her mothers disapproval and frequent punishments.
As she got older, Tricks and Pranks inevitably turned into Rebellion. Come high school it seemed everything she did was just to spite her mother. Sneaking off in the middle of the night, getting into trouble, tattoos. And that was just what she was caught with. Lauren found that she had a knack for lying about almost anything and was creative enough to spin even the worst things she did to something was not quite as bad or shift the blame to someone else. It also seemed she was smart enough for school as she was able to keep her grades up despite all the mayhem she caused.
Almost all of her applications seemed in inexplicably disappear however. The only one to get through was one for a college in New York City which she was glade to accept. It didn't take her long to gather up enough cash, get out the door and head for the airport first chance she got.
When she touched down at JFK International, she hailed a cab and was quite willing to get on with her life now that she was finally free to do whatever she wanted. Along the way to her apartment however, her driver seemed to get lost and frequently tried to talk to her about her life. She tried to deflect his questions, even outright lying, but everything she said seemed completely transparent to him. As the Evening rolled by and driven to her wits end, the cabbie dropped the act and revealed that he was her father.
And that her father was none other than the trickster god Loki.
As he drove through the streets of New York, he calmly explained to a very shocked Lauren about the war between the gods and titans, how many children of other gods were being visited and all that fun stuff. When she asked how the hell she was suppose to fight monsters, He told her to look under her seat, which revealed several pieces of jewellery and a lighter that could channel the power of gods and a sheath that could produce an infinite number of throwing knives.
As he dropper her off, he told her that he set her up with a better apartment than the one she picked out before. With everything said, Loki told Lauren that he would be seeing her again soon before driving off into the night and leaving the newly minted Scion more than a little lost. Over the past few months Lauren has thankfully survived a few titanspawn attacks and continued her life at college mostly uninterrupted, though she is starting to wonder when her father will show again…
