Background
Freida Rodriguez is a bitter young woman. Her mother raised her alone, after an impossible one night stand with a man she refers to as "the Latino Steve Buscemi". She was a secretary at a health insurance company, he was one of the managers, and after a few beers (okay, a LOT of beers), nature took its course. Nine months later, she was an unwed mother - and unemployed. With the help of family, she went back to school to become a nurse, and was able to support her daughter in the nursing field.
This tale of strength in the face of adversity didn't faze Freida any. She's the one who rarely saw her mother growing up, and had to deal with brawling with her stupid cousins and the problems of a latchkey kid. They finally settled down in a decent neighborhood by the time Freida was in middle school, but by then she was a pretty warped little girl. Despite her good looks, she prefers to wear unfashionable, ugly clothing and has gained a reputation for being a creepy freak (her teachers say that she 'doesn't play well with others'.) . Her few respites from the hell that is high school are playing flute in the band and her dog Blue. And poor Blue isn't long for this world.

Blue finally passed, but as Freida went to bury him in the backyard, she had an encounter with her divine father, the ever snarky Miclantecuhlti. She learned of her parentage, gained her birthrights through a small trial, and got Blue back from the dead.
